AD4803 Studio// Target audience and explanation

I chose the magaine 1 Granary as my inspiration. The magazine is for students and made by students. I felt I could best approach this magazine due to understanding the publication and the audience, as both apply to me. In terms of my subject, I was limited due to lockdown, but found my sister to be an appropriate subject. I wanted the outcomes to be strong and bold, much like the ones published and my sister has pink hair, so felt this was a great addition. A lot of the models in the magazine are young and I felt this was perfect for my model. I made sure to use garments that were similar or worthy of the ones in the magazine, as fashion is an important aspect of the purpose of the magazine. I also wanted to use hair and make up that would benefit the outcomes and make the images more interesting so I got creative with these aspects too.

1 Granary uses quite natural set ups for their photography and don’t often use full set up studios, instead opt for more natural and relatble approaches, this is somehting I wanted to portray and felt it was important. I used outside a lot as I felt this was a more relevant background and worked better for achieveing my goals. Using flash outside allowed for the mage to be lit better and to make the subject pop from the background, an approach that is often used within the magazine. The purpose of my images is to show fashion, make up and hair styles in a bold, young and artistic way. Through all of my research I was able to achieve this outcome and feel as if my images represent this goal.
