‘Charlotte Rutherford is an English director, photographer, and script editor, based out of Los Angeles. She has worked in film and television, though her most prolific work has been in magazine editorials and music videos. Rutherford has directed music videos and photographed celebrities.’
This shot is edgy and colourful. The blue background is complimented by the subjects make up and white jacket. The side profile shot allows the shapes of her hair to stand out more and create a repetitive pattern in the shot. I feel like the image works really well in being a fashion portrait. The lighting seems to be coming from two side, it is quite high up, visible from the bottom of the frame being darker. The subjects face has been lit from above, pointing down, perhaps a spot light.The background has also been lit from the right hand side to create an even finish, rather than the right side being in shadow. A shallow depth of field has been used, around f/8 and an shutter speed of about 1/100.
This image shows the subject in a studio against a pink background. She has bright and colourful make up and a unique hairstyle. The image is almost like a surreal science fiction character. The image is really brighlty lit, probably from both sides with a fill in flash. It seems two soft boxes have been used with a fill in flash to create the evenly lit, almost plastic feel to the image. In the subjects eye you cab see two light sources, One to the left closer and one in front to the right and further back. The photographer is close to the subject and slightly below eyelevel. The shot is a 1/3 body shot , with the subjects face turning to the right. The iso would be low due to the amount of light being in the studio.
