AD4803 Studio// Practitioner research 6: PATRICIA IMBARUS- On set with soft lighting

‘Her photography spans fashion, editorial, lifestyle, commercial, and travel. She enjoys shooting both in studio and on location, and the core of her work includes campaigns, lookbooks, and editorial stories.’

Fashion, lifestyle & commercial photographer based in Berlin ...

This image shows a model on some steps surrounded by plants. She stand in the centre of the shot with steps in the back and forground. The photographer is below the subject and a couple of metres away. They have used leaves to shoot through, blurring them out but making them visible enough to be made out. The subject weards red which makes her stand out against the grey steps and contrast against the green plants. The image has been shot in portrait with a wide aperature, keeping the background in focus, around f/14. The scene is light, suggesting a small iso has been used, potentially 100. The shutter speed would be about 1/100 to compensate for the other settings. The lighting of the shot looks quite natural, but could have been assisted by a soft box.

This is an on set fashion portrait. It is a full body shot, with one of the subjects feet out of the frame. The subjects body fills a lot of the frame and she stands in a pose leaning to the right with her lower body, but to the left with her upper body. This is a side profile shot. The shot has been taken outside with the background showing a rocky scene with a baby blue sky, much like her suit, broken up with some soft clouds. The image is quite soft in colours and the lighting looks natural. There could have been a flash used too, but it isn’t obvious. The background is still quite sharp, suggesting it has been taken at around f/11. The strong lighting means a low iso has been used, about 100, with a shutter speed of about 1/100.
