‘Commitment, passion, and the ability to face personal challenges were some of the key drivers of Sebastian Kim‘s career success.’
Sebastian Kim focuses on portraits and fashion photography. He photographs on set, as well as in a studio enviroment. I am focusing on his studio work, which I would like to create similar outcomes to.

For these shots he has used neutral backgrounds with the subject wearing soft but strong colours to stand out but in a soft and elegent way rather than contrasted. The eye make up works really well with complementing the colour of the subjects clothes. One of the shots shows her sat on a stool. The photographer is below the subject, with her looking down at the camera. There seems to have been two light sources, one to the right, projecting her shadow and one above directed at her face, more to the left. The whole image is quite soft, suggesting a soft box has been used. The image on the right hass been shot similarly, but a more close up portrait of the subjects face. Both images have been shot with a small aperature of around f/6. It appears that a slow shutter speed has been used to allow more light to come into the lens creating the soft light effect.

This shot shows a model in a studio. She wears colourful clothes and stands against a white infinity curve studio. There seems to be lighting facing her, coming from the right side of the frame, high up, creating the long shadow to the left. There may have also been a flash used to make the subject pop from the background and stand out. The photographer has taken the image from low down, accentuating the subject. She poses in a running position, making the image look more interesting and interactive. The shutter speed would have been arounf 1/160, with the flash also helping to freeze the subtle movement. An iso of around 200 would have been used and an aperature of f/8.
