‘muted colors, ethereal subjects and sexy and subtle pieces’
‘Currently living and creating in Berlin, Tesch’s creative abilities have stretched far beyond country borders.’

I chose this image as inspiration for my project, shot by Lina Tesch. I like the full body shot and how she has used the background to add an edgy feel to the shot. The subject stands side on in the centre of the frame. There is a black sheet against a wall to create a make shift studio, but rather than shoot with this as a backdrop she has pulled back and made the subject interact with the full scene, including exposed wires and buildings in the background. The sort of realistic approach to shooting high end fashion photography is the kind of style I prefer and this shot does exactly that. It seems a flash ahs been used, present from the highlights and contrast in the subjects hair, but there could have been another light source such as a soft box to lit the subject more evenly. The image has been shot in portrait and edited in black and white. The black and white finish gives the image more contrast and we focus more on the shapes and tones. Most of the shot is in focus and seems to have been shot at around f/8 with a wide lens.
I could use a similar approach to shooting with a backdrop. I would also like to keep my outcomes real and not too staged. I will be using a back drop sheet for a future shoot and stronger lighting than just a flash.
