Prior to thorough planning, I decided to do a mini shoot in order to get a feel for what works and what doesn’t in using flash in daylight. I also felt like it was important to get an understanding of how to portray similar fashion as can be found in my chosen magazine, 1 Granary. I also wanted my chosen model to get comfortable in posing before starting to shoot properly. In this trial shoot I used flash in order to create a similar effect as most images published in the magazine. I decided to dress the model in bright clothing as this is a feature often found in the magaine. It also contrasts the subjects hair and the backgrounds.
I decided to base this shoot outside in my gardento experiment with potential backgrounds fot future shoots. I liked the ladder shots, as well as the final shots, using a plant as a prop. I would like to experiment with props further as I feel it can make a simple shot look a lot moer effective.
I decided to use a wide aperature and to shoot close to the subject as it brings an unsual view to the subject, a theme often visible in the magazine.
In conclusion to this shoot, I am going to do some more pratitioner researches and study the magazine in more depth to make sure I can shoot to the best of my ability. I am also going to plan outfits, alternative lighting sources and potential backgrounds before attempting proper shoots, in order to be fully prepared for shooting, this was I can shoot more sufficently.
