After arriving in Za’atari Manal’s father arranged for her to marry a 22-year-old man. He explains that many fathers believe marriage offers protection for their daughters and helps alleviate financial pressures on the family.
I really like the flow of this photo story. The story is really strong and each image is relevant. The images play for 7 seconds per frame, which is a good amount of time to study the image, before moving onto the next. The audio that has been used is of the main subject and her speaking about her story. The audio really compliments the slideshow and brings the story to life. As the story is based in Za’atari and the subject isn’t English it works well that they have still used her voice rather than using someone to translate it, they have added text to add context in English.
