As part of my hand in, I need to produce a slideshow of images that tell a story. I have selected potentiual images that I feel would work well togther. I am still figuring out an order to put them in so the story has a better flow and am going to experiment with that in this blog post.
This image would make a good opening for the story. I feel as if it is one of the stronger images and would grab peoples attention and make them view the rest of the story. I also feel like the shot makes the story clear and that is important for an opening shot.
This image shows people on their way to the supermarket, which I thought made sense to be early on in the slideshow. I also felt like the bright colour of the casr creates a smooth transisiton from the first which also contains this.
I wanted to show a worker early on. The yellow from his jacket goes with the yellow from the previous shot. It also links in with the car theme so far. I felt it was important to include a key worker, as they are part of the story in showing supermarkets.
This image shows the start of the que to the supermarket. It needed to be early on within the story as it works better telling the beginning of the process of shopping during a pandemic. I also feel like it shows structure and makes the whole queing sequence clear.
I felt the composition of this image worked well and made it clear that they are in a que. The subjects all add different parts to the story. One of the subjects walks to the back of the que, whilst others wait. I felt this image worked well here to show the long wait.
I have decided to go with an image that is further away in order to get in more context. The man is wearing a mask, which I thought worked well in showing him in the que almost at the front.
I feel like this image shows the isolation of a singular subject that works well. As I was shooting through something it also brings in the social distancing metaphor.
I liked this image due to the fact it shows a singular subject who is older. A lot of the people within the story are younger and more able, so felt it was important to highlight this aspect of the pandemic.
This image shows two subjects. One is on her phone coming into the frame and the other one wears a mask and gloves. I felt this worked to show two types of people.
This shows how long the ques are and gives us an insight into social distancing at supermarkets. Also shows main subject with gloves on.
Shows man walking away from the sop with his essentials. He holds toilet rolls which have almost become a symbolic feature in relation to the pandemic.
This image shows towards the end of the process of unloading shopping. He wears a mask which compliments the story.
A couple unload their shopping, with the lady wearing gloves and a mask. This shows the end of the shopping trip and works well towards the end of the story.
I felt like this image worked well as an end shot. The story is heavily focused on people during the pandemic, as well as symbolic objects, such as gloves and masks. I felt like showing the aftermath of what it looks like at the supermarket works well. It is also supposed to make people think about the negative effects they can have from using gloves and not disposing of them correctly.
