Kelsang uses techniques, such as, lighting, objects, reflections and shadows as a way of breaking up the frame. Throughout his work the same techniques are used, keeping his work interesting and consistent.

This image shows an older woman asleep in her house. The image has been shot through her window, with the curtains barley being open, but just enough for her to be visible. The image has been taken at a flat angle, with the subject directly in front of the camera. The image looks as if it has been shot at night with the light source mainly being from within the house with a warm tungsten light source. It also appears to be lit from avaliable light outside of the house, most likely being from street lighting. As the subject is asleep, it appears that the image is a ‘grab shot’, however he most likely took a few images without the knowledge of the subject. As it appears to be night, the iso would have been reasonably high, but there is enough avaliable light for it to not be too high. There is some noise in the image, suggesting it is around an iso of 800. The whole image holds warm tones, mainly due to the lighting, but also the bricks and curtains. The image is landscape and appears to be shot with a wide angle lens. The compotion of the image works with the window being slightly to the right of being central, with a bush in the bottom left to even out the frame.

This image, also shot by Kelsang, shows a young girl through a car. He has used the car as a way of showing an alternative, much more interesting approach of documenting the girl. There are also reflections from the window, breaking up the frame further. The image seems to have been shot in the evening, with the sun being low, creating the golden lighting and harsh shadows. The girl is to the right on the frame, with her upper body being in the highlight of the shadow. It would seem a lower iso has been used, due to the amount of available lighting from the sun, potentially being around 200. The lighting is warm, but the objects within the frame, such as the building, is of a cool tone, creating strong contrast, complimenting the contrast created, also by the shadows. The image holds quite a lot of negative space, especially toward the top, which works well as the area where the subject is, is quite busy and could have been too much if this negative space wasn’t visible. The image has been shot in landscape with a wide angle lens.
