Due to the recent regulations regarding the Pandemic, I am no longer able to complete my project on a young mum. I am having to adjust my project to ensure it is accessible and I can continue to shoot without putting myself or others at risk. After thinking about various alternative projects it seems it would be the most beneficial idea to document the Pandemic and use it to produce a story. I feel as if I would be able to produce a successful story which; tells a narrative, is informative and is more importantly relevant.
What my aim is:
I aim to inform my audience on how different the current world is and how we have adjusted to the adjustments. I also would like to use the story as a way of documenting history, which will be looked back at as informative and visually a factual representation of what the world looked like during such an uncertain time.
What effect do I want the outcome to have:
I would like the story to be shocking and informative. I will focus on showing the realities of living in a pandemic and what that means for tasks that were otherwise normal and simple, such as food shopping. I also feel it is important to document the situation for people who are having to isolate due to being in the ‘vunerable’ category and having to isolate.
What the story is:
I will be planning how I will structure the story, as I feel it is important to document it in a way that visually reads as a story and makes sense. As the story is Non fictional, I feel it is important to translate that in the order of the images. I plan open the story with a visually shocking image to grab peoples attention and I would also like it to translate as an opening image, potentially being taken early on in the process. I also feel the last image needs to read as an ending, whether that is a literal ending to the pandemic or an open question as to when it will end, I feel it is important that it makes sense to be put last.
What will the style be?
The style will be documentary/photojournalism, documenting real life. I also hope it is seen as a historical document told through photography, with the intention of being used later on for informing other generations of the realities of living in a pandemic.
