I found this image on magnums isolation feature. I would like to use this image by Richard Kalvar as I feel like it gives us an insight into life in isolation and what people do to stay busy. A lot of the other work I have looked at shows life outside of houses, such as at supermarkets and in the streets. This work feels more personal and I would also like to give this insight into isolation. The image subject is below the camera at an angle, with the majority of her body in the shot. You can’t see the subjects face but get a feel for what she looks like from what you can see, along with her house decor. The image seems to be lit solely from daylight from a window, with shadows being cast throughout the imagee. The lighting is quite golden, suggesting it is either sunset or sunrise. The whole image is sharp, suggesting an aperature of around f/16 has been used. It is not clear if the subject is moving quickly or not, so the shutter speed could be around 1/125. The photographer is above the subject, likely stood up and pointing the camera down slightly.
I would like to produce similar work in my 30 days project, as I feel it will add more of a variety to my work, rather than just focusing on being outside. This is also a great idea for the days I am not able to go out as it is easily accessible, especially in these current circumstances.
